Our multiculturally divers team has years of experience in this uniquely creative and technologically driven design field. We strive to better understand our global visual communication needs, and to help protect our environment and global community. Our understanding and experience in type design has opened many doors. We’ve worked with some of the biggest branding agencies and design studios in the world, it has taught us and prepared us to handle the challenges and complexities of this uniquely creative and technology driven design field. Our international and diverse team helps us effectively work with different markets and commercial cultures. We are continually researching and striving for advancements in technology and design to bring this knowledge to our clients and their projects. Working with newglyph also means following a new kind of company and journey. We are challenging ourselves to build a company that understands the issues and needs of our time.
IAN PARTY – Founder, CEO, Design Director
Born in Lausanne in 1977, Ian Party started his professional career as a sign painter, later moving on to study graphic design at the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL). He went on to specialize in typography in the type and media program at The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). With his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to share his vision of type design with the world, he set off to establish his first type design company BP (Büchi and Party) in 2005, which later became Swiss Typefaces in 2013. He is a leading expert in this field and was a teacher at ECAL from 2005-2016. Winner of the Swiss Design Awards in 2005, and Type Directors Club in 2013. He designed renowned typefaces such as SangBleu, Suisse and NewParis (more).
DANIELA RETANA – Founder, Custom Fonts Department Director
Mexican Born and L.A. raised, Daniela Retana is an artist, fashion designer, writer and entrepreneur based in Switzerland. She studied fine art at the Otis Collage of Art and Design, in Los Angeles. She also attended the California Institute of the Arts, and later went on to study fashion design at the Geneva University of Art and Design, (HEAD). With an eclectic background, she has been part of projects in various branches of art, fashion, graphic design, film, and music. To name a few, project manager at Swiss Typefaces, fashion editor/ consultant for Sang Bleu magazine, fashion designer for X-Girl. And is also a recipient of The Great Seal of the State of California, for the 1999 arts scholar’s recognition program.
DENNIS MOYA RAZAFIMANDIMBY – Founder, Creative Director
Born in Geneva in 1991, this Lausanne-based designer, communication strategist and curator worked for Swiss Typefaces, Balmer Hählen, ECAL and Horde to name a few. He was lecturer at Eracom, teaching contemporary graphic design history. Passionate about visual culture he founded several projects for the creative community (Ligature.ch, CuratedContent, Swissposters, Mosoma Archives, Connections).
DAVID MASSARA – Graphic and Type Designer
Both graduated with honors at Eracom & ECAL, Massara approaches every project he embarks on as if it’s a puzzle he needs to put together. A designer who fully adheres – and feels comfortable within – the structure the creative discipline of graphic design imposes on its practitioners. His work was selected as one of the Best Graduated from It’s Nice That in 2019 and was exhibited in various magazines such as IDEA Magazine (Japan), Novum (Germany), or BranD Magazine (Hong-Kong). His typography diploma “Ripley” is currently nominated for the 2020 Swiss Design Award.
